How Pindrop works

Every answer here is the one support gives. Prices and credit costs come straight from what the app charges.

Getting started

  1. What is Pindrop?

Pindrop is a website builder for people who sell websites to local businesses: it maps the businesses near you, shows which have no website, builds a finished site in minutes, and bills the owner for you.

  2. How the map works: gold dots, green dots and marks

A gold dot is a business with no real website, a green dot has one, and you can mark any business No-go, Talking or Client to track it.

  3. The business I want is not on the map

Build it anyway: open the Build tab, choose Make a custom, type the business name and town, and Pindrop builds the same kind of site in about a minute.

  4. Two ways to build: a template or a bespoke AI page

A template build costs 100 credits and uses one of Pindrop's designed templates; a bespoke AI build writes a one-of-a-kind page for 50 credits on a plan.

Plans and credits

  1. Plans and pricing

Starter is $19.99 a month for 2,000 credits; Pro is $99.99 a month for 12,000 credits; the trial is two days with 500 credits.

  2. What each action costs in credits

A template build is 100 credits, a bespoke AI build 50 on a plan, a prompt edit 15, and hand edits, publishing and hosting are free.

  3. Do unused credits roll over?

No. On each renewal the balance is brought back up to the plan's full monthly amount; a balance already above it from a top-up pack is kept.

  4. Credit top-up packs

One-time packs of 1,500, 3,500 or 8,000 credits from the credits menu; a pack is credits only and never pays for a plan month.

Publishing and domains

  1. How to publish a site and show it to the owner

Press Publish. It is free, costs no credits, gives you a real link to text the owner, and nothing about money is asked until you set a price.

  2. What address does a published site get?

On a paid plan every site gets a free neutral address under yoursite.page that never names Pindrop; trial and preview sites use pindrop.host; a custom domain can be connected or bought.

  3. Connect a domain you own, or buy one

Open the domain panel in the editor's Settings, enter the domain and add the records it shows; it usually connects within minutes. You can also buy a .com, .co, .io, .org or .net there.

  4. Is a published site on Google?

A published site is public and crawlable, but Google finds a new site on its own schedule; the fastest way to be found is a link from the business's Google Business Profile.

  5. SEO, analytics and custom code

Every published site ships with a title, description, social tags, LocalBusiness structured data, a sitemap and robots.txt; Google Analytics, a Meta pixel and any custom head code go in the Settings tab.

Getting paid

  1. Set a price and bill the client

After the site is live, set a one-time build fee and a monthly price from the Business tab; Pindrop makes the payment link, bills the owner, and pays you 90% of everything.

  2. How payouts work: the 90/10 split

You keep 90% of the gross amount the client pays, on the build fee and every month after; Pindrop keeps 10% and pays card fees, hosting, email delivery and billing out of that.

  3. Which countries can receive payouts?

Payouts go through Stripe to bank accounts in the countries listed here; builders elsewhere can still build and publish and bill clients directly outside Pindrop.

  4. What happens to my clients if I stop paying for my plan?

The client's subscription is with Pindrop, so their site stays live as long as they keep paying and your 90% keeps being paid out; without a plan you only lose credits for new builds and AI edits.

  5. What happens when a client stops paying?

Their site goes offline at the end of the period they paid for and stays in your account, where it can be edited, republished or billed to someone else; a domain bought for them belongs to their business.

  6. How the business owner signs in to their site

Nothing is emailed at purchase and there is no password: the owner opens their site's address with /manage on the end, enters the email they paid with, and gets a sign-in link within a minute.

Editing a site

  1. Editor basics: free edit, Prompt, Controls and Settings

Click any text or photo to change it for free; the Prompt tab makes AI edits from plain words; Controls has one card per section; Settings holds sharing, domain, analytics and language.

  2. Add a menu, services or price list to a site

In the Prompt tab, paste a link to the menu or paste the menu itself with a line like Add our full menu on top; every item, price and heading is written onto the page as one edit.

  3. Contact forms, bookings and where the messages go

Every published site has a working contact form and can have a booking section; submissions are emailed to the address set for the site and kept in your Leads inbox.

  4. Building and editing sites in other languages

Sites can be set to any of 44 languages from the language bar in the editor, and the language new sites are built in is picked on the template screen and remembered.

  5. Why the background stays black, and how button colours work

Concierge, Frame, Cinema and Director are dark by design and cannot be lightened; to get a light page rebuild on a light template. Button colour comes from the Colors card, button shape from Button style.

Account and problems

  1. Card declined at checkout, or a plan payment failed

A decline is almost always the bank refusing a first charge to a new merchant; try another card or ask the bank. A failed plan payment is fixed from Account then Billing with Retry payment.

  2. Cancelling, and taking your content with you

Cancel any time from the Account page and sites stay live through the paid period; Download content in the editor's Settings gives you every word and photo link on a site.

  3. Download leads as a list

The download button above the map sells the businesses nearest the middle of the map as a CSV of 100, 1,000 or 10,000 rows, filtered to no website or social only, for the US and Canada.

  4. The site looks wrong after an edit, or my changes are not live

Hard refresh first; if edits are missing from the live site, press Publish again, because the live site is a snapshot taken at publish time.

  5. How to reach Pindrop

The help bubble in the app answers most questions at once; anything else goes to support@pindrop.host, read by the founders.
