How do I sell a site?

Build it before you say a word. Order your coffee, drop a pin, and walk up with the finished site on your phone: "I built this for you while I was in line." Hand them the phone and let them scroll. The site does the selling. Then close: "Want it live today?"

What should I charge?

Accepted Answer

Whatever you want. You keep 90% of everything they pay, build fee and monthly both. Most closers charge $250 to $500 up front, plus $29 to $49 a month for hosting and updates. Small shops say yes fast under $50 a month. Never sell the build alone; the monthly is where the real money is.

How does monthly recurring revenue work?

When the owner buys, they subscribe through your checkout link and their card is charged automatically every month. You keep 90% of every payment, deposited straight to your bank. Pindrop keeps 10% and handles hosting, billing, and tax forms. Ten clients at $39 a month is $351 a month to you, forever, for work you already did.

The owner wants changes later. New menu, prices, a deal?

That's exactly why they pay monthly. The owner sends the request from their own link and it lands in your Clients page with an email, photo attached if they sent one. You make the change and mark it done, and we tell them it's live. Menus, prices, hours, weekend specials, holiday banners, new photos. Most take a minute, and you collect your 90% every month either way. When an owner asks "can it do specials?", the answer is always yes.

My site isn't perfect. Can I fix it before I pitch?

Yes, and polishing is cheap. Swapping the hero photo with the photos button is free, and reopening a site you already built to edit it by hand costs nothing. Asking the AI to rewrite the copy, change the theme, or scan a menu uses a few credits each, far less than a full build. You only pay the full build cost the first time you generate a new business.

They already have a domain. Can we use it?

Yes. Every site gets a free Pindrop link instantly. To use their own domain (rosiesdiner.com), we give you two DNS records the owner adds wherever the domain lives (GoDaddy, Squarespace, etc). About ten minutes. Full domain transfers work too, they just take a few days.

What do you take, and are there other fees?

Pindrop keeps 10% of what your client pays. You keep 90%, of the full amount, not what is left after card fees: Stripe's processing comes out of our share, not yours. There is nothing else. No setup fee, no per-site fee, no charge for hosting, no cut of your build fee beyond that same 10%. Your own plan is the only other thing you pay, and that is the price on the pricing page.

Who hosts the site, and what does that cost?

We do, and it is included. Every site gets a free Pindrop link the moment you publish, and hosting, SSL, updates and the contact form are all part of the client's monthly subscription. There is no separate hosting bill to you or to them. If a client cancels, their site goes offline at the end of the period they already paid for, and comes straight back if they start paying again.

Does the money go through you, or straight to me?

Through us, then to you. The owner pays by card on your checkout link, we take our 10%, and your 90% is transferred to your own bank account through Stripe. That is what lets a client subscribe with no Pindrop account, keeps their card on file, chases a failed payment, and handles the tax paperwork. You never have to invoice anyone.

Question 10

Who owns the domain, and can the business owner take it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, it is theirs. The cleanest route is for the owner to buy the domain in their own name and add two DNS records, which takes about ten minutes and means they own it outright from day one. If you buy one through us instead, it is registered for that site and can be moved to the owner or to any other registrar. That move is not a button yet, so email us and we will do it. Nobody is locked in either direction.

What exactly is a credit?

Credits are the balance your plan runs on. A full website build costs about 100 credits, and small AI tweaks cost far less, so a Starter plan of 2,000 credits is roughly 20 sites a month. Swapping photos or reopening a site you already built never costs extra.

Question 12

What if they say no?

Accepted Answer

The site stays in your Sites tab. Half of sales close on the follow up: text them the link that night so they can show their family. Owners change their minds fast when someone else says "whoa, is that yours?"

Can I show a business the site before I pay for anything?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Press Publish and pick Publish a 7-day preview. The site goes live at its own Pindrop address, hidden from search engines, for seven days. Send the link to anyone. If they say yes, start a plan and the same site stays up with no change. If they say no, it simply ends.

Question 14

What counts as one of my sites?

Accepted Answer

A published site. Building and editing only spend credits. A preview counts while it is live and stops counting when it ends, so a pitch that goes nowhere never uses up a slot.

Question 15

Can I build a site in another language?

Accepted Answer

Yes, 44 of them. Open the site in the editor and pick the language at the top of the panel. Headings, buttons, the contact form and the hours all switch, and the AI writes every edit in that language from then on.

Question 16

I need a site for a business that is not on the map.

Accepted Answer

Press Build, then Search a business to find it by name, or Start from scratch to describe it. You can add their website, socials or Google link, upload photos, and describe the business so the AI has something real to work from.

Are the sites one page? Can I add my own code or a chat widget?

Accepted Answer

One page, on purpose: a local business needs what they do, where they are, hours, photos and a way to reach them, and one page does that better than five. Custom scripts and third-party widgets are not supported; the site only ever runs code we wrote, which is what keeps every site safe and fast.

Where do the contact form and booking requests go?

Accepted Answer

To the business owner by email the moment a visitor sends one, and into the owner page on their own site. You see every enquiry across all your clients under Leads on your Account page.

Question 19

Why does editing the phone layout change the desktop one?

Accepted Answer

Mirror is on. The button next to the phone, tablet and desktop icons mirrors your free-edit changes across all three. Turn it off to shape each one separately.

Question 20

The map is light and I want it dark.

Accepted Answer

The lighting follows your local time of day. Use the Auto, Day, Night button in the bottom right of the map to pin it.

Does this work outside the US?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The map covers most of the world, and builders in Europe, Australia, Canada and Asia use it every day. One honest caveat: payouts from our built-in client billing currently go to US bank accounts only. Builders elsewhere invoice their clients directly instead, which works fine, since hosting rides on your own subscription, not on how your clients pay you. Your subscription is billed in US dollars.

Can I bill my clients myself, outside Pindrop?

Yes, completely. Invoice them from your own company, take cash, bank transfer, whatever suits your market, and keep 100% of it. In that arrangement your own subscription is what keeps their sites live, so stay on a plan and everything stays up. The built-in checkout link is just the convenient option: it handles cards, retries, and invoices for you in exchange for the platform share.

Is my content locked in?

Accepted Answer

No. The words and photos on your sites are yours. Every site has a Download content button in the editor's Settings that hands you all of its text and photos in one file, no emails, no waiting. Domains transfer out on request. What you cannot export is the running site itself: the rendering engine, hosting, editor, forms and booking are the service you are paying for.

If I stop paying, what happens to my clients' sites?

A client who pays monthly through Pindrop keeps their site live whether or not your own subscription continues, because their payment covers the hosting. Sites that nobody is paying for go offline when your plan ends, and come straight back when a plan resumes. Nothing is deleted.

Question 25

Can the business owner keep the domain if they leave?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A domain bought through Pindrop belongs to the business, and we transfer it to them on request when a deal ends. A domain they connected themselves was always theirs.

Question 26

Do I get email addresses with the domain?

Accepted Answer

No. Pindrop hosts the website only. For email on the domain, Google Workspace or Zoho Mail both work with any domain and take about ten minutes to set up; the DNS records they need can be added from the Domains page.
