How to sell websites door to door: what closes on the spot
Deals on Pindrop close within minutes of the owner seeing the price, which makes walking in the strongest way to sell. Where to go, when, and what to have on your phone.
Door to door sounds old-fashioned for selling websites. Our numbers say it is the most direct route there is: the deals that closed on Pindrop were paid a few minutes after the owner saw the price. That is someone standing in front of the owner, not an email thread.

Plan the street before you walk it
Walking a street at random wastes most of the day, because only about one business in six has no website. Pick the street first: open the area on a map of businesses without websites, choose a block with five or more, and build their sites before you leave. Then every door you knock on is one where you have something to show.
Which doors
- Nail salons, cleaners and trades have the highest publish and send rates on Pindrop.
- Barbers are the most likely to have no website, but slower to say yes; lead with booking.
- Restaurants are plentiful but busy. Go between 2 and 4 in the afternoon, never at lunch.
- More in the best businesses to sell websites to.
What to carry
- Your phone with their site already open. Not a laptop, not a brochure. Owners scroll their own site on a phone the way their customers will.
- A price you have decided in advance. Most builders ask $500 up front and $50 a month; the on-the-spot yeses lean toward a small monthly and no build fee.
- A pay link ready to send. If they say yes, send it while you are standing there.
The 30 seconds at the counter
Hi, I build websites for businesses on this street. You didn't have one, so I made you one. Can I show you? It takes thirty seconds.
Hand them the phone and wait. The full script, including the price and the four common objections, is in how to pitch a business without a website.
If nobody who can say yes is there
Ask for the owner's name and the best time to come back, and leave the link with whoever is at the counter. Come back once. A second visit with the site already built is warmer than the first.
