The best businesses to sell websites to, from 4,206 sites built on Pindrop

Nail salons and cleaners get published most, restaurants least. Which trades have the most businesses without a site, and which ones actually go through with it.

Most advice on picking a niche is opinion. We have two numbers instead: how many of each kind of business have no website, from our map of 43 million, and what happened when Pindrop builders built sites for them, from 4,206 sites built between July 10 and September 26, 2026.

What happens after the site is built, by trade

"Published" means the builder put the site live, usually because they were happy to show it. "Sent" means they sent it to the owner with a price. Both are good signs the trade is worth your time.

The shortlist

  • Nail salons. The highest publish rate and by far the most sent to owners. One in five in our 50 cities has no site. Visual, appointment-driven, and owners respond to seeing their own work on a page.
  • Cleaning services. Published as often as nail salons. Fewer of them, but owners live on their phone and a site that takes a booking request earns its keep quickly.
  • Home trades. Plumbers and roofers mostly have a site already (about 8% don't), but the ones that don't are one-truck businesses that get jobs from being found, and builders send these to the owner more than almost anything else.
  • Salons and spas. 27% have no website and the sites publish well. The biggest pool of easy yeses.
  • Landscapers. A 35% publish rate, and a before-and-after gallery sells itself.

The trap: restaurants

Restaurants have more businesses without a site than any other trade, almost 55,000 in our 50 cities. They also have the lowest publish rate (25%) and one of the lowest send rates (8%). Menus change, owners are hard to reach during service, and many rely on delivery apps and Google for orders already. They are not a bad target, but they are not the easy first sale they look like on a map.

Barbers: lots of them, slower to close

Barbers are the most likely of any trade to have no website (36%), and builders build plenty of sites for them. Only 7% get sent to the owner, the lowest of any trade: many barbers run on Instagram and a booking app and do not see what a site adds. Lead with booking and reviews, not the site itself.

How we counted

  • Every site built on Pindrop from July 10 to September 26, 2026 (4,206), excluding Pindrop's own test accounts. Trades are grouped from each business's category and name; sites that fit no group are left out of the table.
  • Published: the site was put live. Sent to the owner: the builder sent it with a price or a link to pay.
  • Counts of businesses without websites are from Pindrop's map in 50 U.S. cities on September 26, 2026, in the report.
