How much to charge a restaurant, salon or contractor for a website

Asking prices by kind of business from people selling websites on Pindrop: $500 and $50 a month almost everywhere, except barbers, where builders ask $200 and $20.

Does a contractor pay more for a website than a nail salon? Going by what people selling websites actually ask, mostly not. Across trades, the typical price on Pindrop is the same: $500 up front and $50 a month. The exception is barbers.

Why the price barely moves

The site takes about the same work whatever the trade, and most builders have settled on a price owners recognize. Where builders do push higher (nail salons average $585 up front, trades $522) it is usually because the site needs more: a service menu with prices, a gallery of work, or several service areas.

Why barbers are lower

Barbers are the most likely of any business to have no website (36% in big U.S. cities), and the hardest to sell one to: many run on Instagram and a booking app. Builders who sell to them go in low, around $200 and $20 a month, and lead with booking. See barbers without websites.

Price the deal, not the trade

  • Want a yes on the spot? A small monthly and little or nothing up front. That is what most closed deals on Pindrop looked like.
  • Want cash now? $500 up front is the price most owners have heard before.
  • Bigger site, bigger price. Multiple pages, online ordering or booking justify more up front, whatever the trade.
